Mission Sunday - November 2014

The Unfinished Task

UnfinishedAs Jesus came to the end of his mission on earth he prayed "I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you have given me to do." (John 17:4.) Having completed his work Jesus then commissioned his disciples, "As the Father has sent me so I am sending you." (John 20:21)

We have the privilege of joining Jesus in the mission of God to "declare his glory among the nations." (Psalm 96:3) That task is still unfinished and as a Church concerned for global mission we want to prioritize a number of emphases that have been identified by world evangelical leaders:

  1. Unreached People Groups. The unreached are not non-Christians within reach of an established church, but non-Christians in areas of the world where there is no one naming and praising Christ, where there is no biblical witness at all. That's an estimated 40% of the world's population.
  2. Bible translation. Out of the 7,000 or so languages in use today only 518 have the complete Bible. More than 1,800 languages have not even begun to be translated.

On November 23rd at Cathays and 30th at Pontprennau we will be focusing particularly on our vision for world mission.

Join us at any of these events and catch the vision for finishing the work Jesus gave us to do.
